From: Grandma Bev
Ingredients
-
6 lb Mariposa Ranch Beef Brisket
-
1 large onion, sliced ½-inch thick
-
1 or 2 bay leaves
-
16 whole cloves
-
1 clove garlic, cut in half (Grandma used the “powder form”)
-
2 Tbsp brown sugar
-
2 Tbsp dry mustard
-
2 cups ketchup
-
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
Directions
-
Put meat into large saucepan or Dutch oven with onion slices, bay leaves, cloves and garlic and cover with water. Cover and simmer (4 hours or until tender). Cool in liquid – drain and trim off excess fat. Refrigerate boiled meat for several hours or overnight.
-
Cut meat across grain into very thin slices. Stand slices on edge in large, shallow baking dish. Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl and pour over the meat.
-
Heat in a 350°F oven for 40 minutes, basting occasionally with sauce.
-
Arrange overlapping slices on serving platter and garnish.
